Quick Tip: Force Eject a stuck CD or DVD from your Mac

It is very rare that you’ll find a CD or DVD stuck in your Mac with no apparent way of getting it out, but if that happens, in can be terribly frustrating. There are a few different things you can try to force the disk to eject.

1. Try iTunes – Sometimes the iTunes eject button will work even if you can’t see the disk in the Finder.

2. Open the Terminal and type “drutil tray eject” to eject the disk tray

3. Shutdown the computer and start up while you hold down the mouse button. Keep your finger on the button until the disk ejects, or the log-in screen appears.
