OS X Quick Tip: Do Not Search Locations in Spotlight

Is there a folder or hard drive that you don’t want to be searched in Spotlight? Just add that location to the to the “Privacy” tab in the Spotlight preference panel and Spotlight will skip over it when searching.

  1. But you can’t exclude the trash, which makes it inconvenient when trying to delete files related to something like an application. As the files are deleted they don’t leave Spotlight.
