Office 2011 Release Date Announced

Been looking forward to Office for Mac 2011? Wait no longer – well, wait a little bit longer, anyways. That’s because Microsoft has announced that you’ll be able to purchase Office for Mac 2011 yourself in October. From the official blog:

It’s official, Office for Mac 2011 will be available at the end of October! Depending on what type of user you are, we’ll have two different editions available to purchase at retail — Office for Mac Home and Student 2011 and Office for Mac Home and Business 2011. Additionally, starting today, if you buy Office 2008 for Mac, you will be able to upgrade to Office 2011 when it is available at no additional cost through the Microsoft Office for Mac Technology Guarantee Program.

Many have asked, “How much will Office for Mac 2011 cost?”

The new lineup has a lower price per installation for all editions. Below is a quick look at the pricing structure.

Office for Mac Home & Student Edition 2011 (Word for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac, Excel for Mac and Messenger for Mac 8 )
$119.00 US ERP (1 install)
Family Pack: $149 US ERP (3 installs)

Office for Mac Home & Business Edition 2011 (Word for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac, Excel for Mac, Outlook for Mac and Messenger for Mac 8 )
$199.00 US ERP (1 install)
Multi-Pack: $279 US ERP (2 installs)

Fancy, huh? I have been using Pages and Numbers pretty extensively myself, but there are definitely times when Office products would be a bit easier. Now if they’re not as buggy as 2008, then I’ll pick up a pack myself.

  1. The new lineup has a lower price per installation for all editions

Huh?? How is this a lower price. When I purchased Office for Mac 2008 (home/student editions) it cost me $110 and it came with THREE install codes. The pricing you mention is $119 for ONE install. Or am I missing something here??
