I’ve spoken here a few times now about my hunt for a mouse. I had a few requirements: I wanted it to be wireless, have multiple buttons, and not have some stupid dongle to make it wireless. After a long search, I wasn’t able to find something that was both comfortable in my mammoth mitts that also fit all of my requirements. It was a bit frustrating.
I realized pretty quickly that I was in what me and my wife refer to as the “Bryce Conundrum.” Without getting into it too much, it goes like this: You have a list of three things that you want, and out of those three things, you can only have two. In this situation, I could have everything I wanted if I just gave up on the dongle issue, but I was stubborn, so I decided to wait it out.
Yesterday, we had a bit of a power outage here at the Whipps Compound, which I originally hoped would only last a few minutes. After 15 minutes or so, I realized that the 105-degree temperature combined with the 5-month old that was comfortably sleeping in the next room was not going to work out. We decided to pack up and head up north to my folk’s house. I didn’t bring my USB mouse, but my trusty Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse instead. After 10 minutes, I headed out to Best Buy to go buy a mouse.
I ended up with the Logitech Performance MX. It was a bit pricey, but it fit comfortably in my hand and it had tons of buttons. I’ve spent some time with the mouse now, and I’ve got to say that I really like it. Each button is customizable, and the scroll wheel feels fluid, yet has resistance at the same time. Plus, it’s wireless, even if it does have that little dongle. In fact, that dongle doesn’t take up a ton of space on my hub, and even when I take out the computer for a spin on the road, it won’t take up much room on the computer, either.
I’m not quite sure if it’s the ultimate mouse, but so far, it works pretty well for me.

They make/made a Bluetooth version of this mouse, but I think it was bundled with a keyboard. <3
“[…] tons of buttons,” eh? What does that make the MX510/518? It has eight. Hehehe.
While comfortable, I found the Performance MX to be too heavy and felt that the mousewheel button was too difficult to press without making the scroll wheel move.
I love this mouse I have been with the Logitech MX line since the original MX. What brings me back to these mice even though they cost $99usd is that they are really comforting to my hand and very good quality. It never jumps or anything. Overall best mouse I have ever used. And I have been through all the razors.
