If you’re looking for a questionable way to cheaply replace your iPhone battery should it stop working on you, then you will be glad to know that there is a mysterious Chinese company that has released a DIY option for only $20. For that, obviously too cheap to be legit price, you get a a 1400mAh, 3.7V iPhone battery, a screwdriver looking thing , a plastic shiv of some sort, and an instruction manual (which may or may not be in English).

All you have to do is de-solder your old battery and solder in the new one…and…you know…God know’s what else.

I would steer clear of this thing.

  1. Why Janky? 😉 you can buy an iPod battery for 20$ from macsales.com with almost the same Tools in the Kit.

  2. I don’t see the “janky” either! If being janky the apple replacement program for $89 is!
Although the work you have to do on the iphone is a little bit more sophisticated than the one on the ipod, i hardly will need more than 20 minutes to do that kind of work!

The batteries itself are probably the same – no problem to get batteries of that kind for such a price.

Who doesn’t know how to handle a screwdriver better though goes with apple.com!
