Firefox 3 Final Release coming in June

Mozilla Corp confirmed on Thursday afternoon that they will release the final beta of Firefox 3.0 very soon, and that they expect to deliver the finished browser in June.

Firefox 3.0 Beta 5 has been code frozen and the Firefox team are working toward a final release candidate.

If you haven’t tried Firefox 3 yet, I highly recommend you do. It has a nice looking new skin, seems much snappier, and is far less of a resource hog as the previous version.

You can download the latest beta here.

  1. One feature you forgot to point out is the “Smart Address Bar”. I call it smart because you can just type a keyword, tag or title of the site, that you have already visited, then a list of web site address will be shown. If some sites have same tags or keyword it will be included in the list but just a minor thing, at least you won’t need to remember the site address.

The memory for me is still an issue especially if you have tons of extension.

  2. Vance, if you get Keywurl for Safari it will do the same thing. I love the feature tbh.

Also FF3 looks nicer than FF2 but still looks like it was designed in paint compared to Safari. Seems very unpolished and dare I say redmond-like.

  3. I for one do not like the new skin. Thank goodness you can change it.

OTOH, w00t for new features and better resource use. It is much snappier than FF2.

  4. @steve thanks…

  5. Well, Firefox 3 would be better than Safari, not the design but on how it works, what if your browser hangs up and that page is important to you (I guess the History will surely don’t mind it and just delete it- it can’t remember anything!!!), unlike Firefox 2/3, when the browser crashes, it’ll give you an option to Restore your previous session or just start a new ones. Safari was nice too, when I’m streaming online, I bet, It’s a little faster than Firefox. :D
