The Apple display lineup has been pretty lacking the last few years. There’s the ridiculously expensive 30-inch flat panel, clocking in at $1799, and then the 24-inch LED Cinema Display, which is great, but doesn’t match either of the iMacs that it would otherwise complement nicely. One thing I didn’t realize about the 24-inch model is the included MagSafe connector, making it easy to charge your MacBook without needing to pull your portable MagSafe charger out every time you dock.
But now, the hole has been filled with the new 27-inch LED Cinema Display, which will hit the sales floor in September. It features all of the same goodies as the 24-incher: USB 2.0 hub, MagSafe connector, iSight camera and speakers. Of course, there is the new larger size, which complements the already cool lineup of 27-inch iMacs, making this a very attractive option for designers who prefer multiple computers. Resolution grows to 2560X1440 as well.
Like any Apple display, this one isn’t cheap. $999 gets you this bad boy, which is just $200 from a 21.5-inch iMac. But if you’re a designer who’s anal about their desktop, or just someone who really enjoys Apple products, maybe this is the display for you.
