30 Days of iPhone – Day 14

I have noticed another problem with my iPhone and gmail. I don’t know who’s to blame for it, but for some reason my mail isn’t getting checked every 15 minutes like it should. I know at least one other iPhone owner who is having the same problem.

I think of all theajor apps on the iPhone right now, the Mail app needs the most work. I am eagerly anticipating the first software update to see how things change.

One thing I do love avoid the iPhone is the keyboard. I know some people want the textile feedback, but I find the “clicking” noise to work just fine in giving me sensory feedback, and I would much rather have the extra screen space than the “real” keys.

You also might find it interesting that I am writing this on my iPhone while walking through a Sears with my wife.

Is there another phone that I could do that with? I don’t know…that’s why I’m asking.

  1. naturally there are other phones to do that… all WinMo smartphones, i’d say, as well as blackberries, treos and the better smartphones especially from nokia and sony ericsson. basically anything that can run a html browser.

  2. @phil

No, I understand there are plenty of phones that have HTML browsers, but I have never seen one that displays WordPress in a usable way. I’ve tried it on a Treo, and another type of phone that I can’t recall.

  3. Perhaps you mean “tactile” rather than textile feedback?

  4. … and about instead of avoid? ;)
The funny thing is, halfway reading through the article made me wonder wether you wrote it on the iPhone or not since there were some words replaced.
I think writing and posting this on the iPhone shows the quality of the phone, just like you mention, but then again the typo’s show that it’s not the ideal device for high quality journalism (A)

I noticed the errors too, but maybe its not so much the phone but the fact that he was walking while doing it. I dunno about you guys, but I tend to focus on walking first other things second.

  6. not me, I like runnign into things ;)

  7. The phone does do some inappropriate corrections from time to time. Normally I would fix errors like that, but I think this time I’ll leave them.

You have a couple of typos in the post and when I read that you are using your iphone to write it, I understood. Still, cool. But I hope they can let users switch off their smart typing technology if they wish.
