Apple releases iTunes 11.0.2

itunes-11

Apple has recently announced the release of a minor update to its iTunes software. The new update upgrades iTunes to version 11.0.2, and implements a number of changes.

According to Apple, the new update carries with it the usual bug fixes to make iTunes more stable. Other issues have also been addressed with the update. For example, an issue with purchased items not showing up in the iTunes library has been finally fixed.

The most obvious change with the 11.0.2 version is the addition of the Composer view when looking at your music files in the iTunes library. The Composer view does what it says – you can now view the name of the composer for any music file. This may sound like a very superfluous addition but it really does have its use – and not just for music geeks but also for classical music fans who are more anal about how they label their music files and want to properly sort their files by Composers and not put the names of the composers on the Artist tab (sacrilege!). You can open the Composer box by clicking on View then View Options and then checking the box for Composer.

The 54.2MB update also promises to improve the total responsiveness of iTunes when it syncs playlists that contain a lot of tracks.
