Video iPod Patent REVEALED w/illustration

Table of Contents

videoipod02.gifLast week I posted about Apple revealing a “true” Video iPod as early as this week.  As most of you, I’m sure, have noticed, this week is rolling on by with no Video iPod as of yet…STILL, Hrmpf has given us some very, very revealing information from an Apple patent that was published today.

The patent reveals how the Video iPod could work.  Instead of the famous clickwheel interface of the current iPods, the iPod in this patent has a bezel surrounding the screen that is touch sensitive.  Information about which areas to touch for control on shown on the display.

This device would be a large departure from the current Ipods, and frankly, doesn’t seem as intuitive as the clickwheel interface to me…but, of course, I’m only looking at illustrations from a published patent.  I still expect to see this device available for sale in the very, very near future.  If this Video iPod is ready to go (and it might be), then Apple could completely blow the Zune out of the water before it even has a chance to get wet.

Will we see it soon?  I think so.  What do you think?
