As much as a love as I love Apple, after the AT&T scandal I wonder why they chose AT&T as their iPhone partner.

The combined market share of ALL European luxury automobiles. BMW, Volvo, Jaguar, Mercedes, Porsche, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley, LandRover, Saab, Volkswagen Audi AG and Fiat is only a tad above 6%. Yes only a a tad above 6% of the world's automotive market. Do you hear people writing and talking negatively about any of those brands. NOPE

I worked for a cell phone agent for 4 years, both as a sales rep and a manager. 90% of cell phone customers don't want to spend a dime! they all want the Free phone. but there are definatly those who do want the "coolest" phone, like me, the last 3 phones I bought were $200, $250, and $450... I will definatly be buying an iphone. 6% of the cell phone market is still really big. and it's not like Apple is counting on it for a majority of their revenue... besides they own the pattents on the phone, if they license it to others thats even more money.
thats just what I think

Every body knows that the mere mention of Apple's name will draw readers like flies to dog doo, therefore, is it any wonder why we see so many opion pieces on just about any thing Apple that does, or doesn't do, including the iPhone?

A lot of web sites, etc., don't really care, one way or the other, if Apple succeeds or fails, just as long a its name can generate lots of hits to their site.

Personally, I have a 'Gut' feeling that the iPhone will be a bigger sensation then most will even dare to speculate. For one, I hope it will, and two, I really do believe it will.

Anyone who questions whether or not the iPhone will be successful doesn't understand 1. Macs, and 2. Technology Convergence.

1. I believe a large percentage of Mac users will need this device, if not the in the first round, then in the next permutations. How frustrating is it to use your mac to organize your life, and then have a mobile phone that doesn't properly synch with that info, including your digital media!

2. People seem to think that Apple is entering the market as a new profit-making prospect. I really don't think Apple chose to enter this market. For them it was a necessity, just as it is for Microsoft. Computers are going to be moving more and more into our hands, and making calls is, as Steve pointed out "the Killer App".

So I can't see why anyone would question this as a success. For Apple, it's the beginning of a new way of expanding their computing platform. 6% would be huge.... 3% would be huge!!! No matter how the iPhone fares, it's here to stay.

I love how you can spin these thing in any direction you'd like...

iPhone and the Mac are bizarre, niche products for the 5% freak market. Apple is doomed!

iPods are becoming too popular, and since everyone already has one, the market can't grow. Apple is doomed!
