I was looking for why my MacBook Pro seems to be eating all of my batteries, but found this instead. This was so much more fun to read. I’ve lived all over Austin and once I even lived at the intersection of Metcalf and Metcalf. I currently live off of 2222, which has 6–yes 6—different names.

I loved what you wrote. The only real mistake you made was eating at McDonalds. Next time you visit the Apple Store, don’t make the same mistake twice. Eat at the Salt Lick!

I really enjoyed reading this, especially because I live in Austin and I hate that we have NO signs.

At the Domain, if you had gone the opposite way down mopac/loop 1, you would have ended up at I-35.
(For future trips to the apple store)

Wow man. Your experience with Apple went very well as far as Apple is concerned but on the other hand your in-experience with big cities roads and exits really took a toll on you that day.

So, let’s summarize:

- First Apple store was out of stock
- Second Apple store had the part
- You got lost going to and from the second store
- Some loser sprayed your car with ketchup, which you washed off

now if you’d had a nokia n95 (which packs gps to boot!) instead of an iphone… nah just teasing you

i definitely feel your pain michael, i’ve been in situations like these loads of times. i couldn’t navigate myself out of a room with only one door on my own. much less find my way around areas i don’t know in a car.

@ Everyone mentioning the GPS

Don’t most GPS systems run off maps on DVDs? If so, wouldn’t they have also NOT had the new roads listed on them? Why would GPS maps have more up to date information than Google maps? Not being snarky…I’m seriously asking…

I’ve never looked at a GPS before, because I don’t make trips like this often.

Next time, I’m just going to go to Dallas, which Google Maps actually has an accurate listing of.

Sounds like you should have picked up a GPS system instead of a new battery. Or better yet, have some patience and wait on the mailman if you have that much trouble following directions.

I’m glad that within 100 miles, I have two very decent Apple specialists, four Apple Authorized Repair Centers, and two corporate Apple stores.

That’s what I call a HARD day..At least you have Two Apple store’s.I’m from
Bulgaria, 2 month’s ago my Mac Pro didn’t start up at all.So I had to drive from here to Greece and stayed two day’s at a local hotel so they could see what’s wrong..It turned out to be the powersupply…I’m happy to hear that your problem was sloved almost easy.

Wow, that’s quite a story. I never drove in Austin, but I do remember driving in San Antonio and having times where I couldn’t figure out quite where I was. Thanks for sharing the blow-by-blow, it was a good laugh (at your expense =) for my morning.

After all that, I’m glad it really was the battery and not a problem with the power management.

I guess I’ve just been really lucky, I’ve never had a bad experience with AppleCare or the local Apple Store – at least, no bad experiences that weren’t caused by ipod-people piled 10 deep at the Genius bar.
