I am also a victim of the update errors, should I unplug my phone while I wait for less traffic or stay connected?

Warning! The update requires a restore due to a 503 error.

It must be the error for folks that have NOT hacked their phone, because I have not even tried nor have I installed any apps. So, consider yourself warned! A full restore is required.

Backup your photos. It left the notes, map bookmarks, stock picks, world clocks and weather choices. But, it killed the photos! There is no warning that a restore and a reinstall of the ATT account is required.

This is the sloppiest work I have seen from Apple. It reminds me of Microsoft updates ... not well thought out and screw the consumer. I guess I should be happy that Apple even allows me the right to use the device I purchased. After all they bricked those that played with their device.

I can confirm the restore-before-update thing happening as I just had that problem, and I also haven't hacked the phone at all. I guess the only things I'll lose are the notes and maybe the map bookmarks, which kinda sucks because I use those notes all of the time.
