EDGE Network down Nationwide?

new-att-logo.jpgWord on the street is that At&t’s EDGE Network is down nationwide…

The noise about this started on the Macrumors forum earlier today, and it was picked up by Digg just a little while ago.

The Diggers have reported in several different states that the Edge network is down. I have been told by Drew at TV Jab that he’s been having spotty coverage of the network throughout the day in north Texas. I have been on Wi-Fi all day, but I just turned the Wi-Fi off to test the Edge network – The Edge LOGO popped up like it was connected, but I can’t get any pages to load. So it appears to be down here as well.

Is it down where you are? If so, is it just an iPhone situation, or is the network down for all devices?

Did At&t really just not know what they were getting into? Did iPhone users kill the Edge network?

All very good questions (thanks, I wrote them myself), hopefully we’ll be getting some answers soon.

  1. Nope, mine’s still down….been that way for about four hours.

It’s amazing how easily you get used to something you’d never even THOUGHT about using three days ago.

  2. Hmmm…I’m posting this with my iPhone on edge right now. Seems like it’s at least working for some of us. Or maybe it’s just back up already?

  3. @Brad

I’m wondering if it’s just being spotty in places.

It’s working for me now to, and I’m in a different part of town than I was before.

  4. @Michael

That’s entirely possible. I was on the campus side of town when I posted that, and I’m guessing you were out on the south side at home, so it could be problems tower-by-tower.

  5. Either the network broke down, or At&t are doing a much-needed upgrade to the service in order to cope with all the thousands of iPhone owners. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

  6. edge is down here in saint joseph, mo but my freind has done the soft upgrade to 1.1.3 and his is working faster than ever?
