Australian reseller receives mysterious “DO NOT OPEN” box from Apple

Table of Contents

The image above has made its way onto a Mactalk.com.au forum, and as you can tell, its a relatively small box that very clearly says it cannot be opened until June 10th, 2008 – due to an NDA agreement.

It should be noted that June 10th 2008 in Australia should be right around the same time as Job’s June 9th keynote here in the US.

The speculation from Mac Rumors is that the contents of the box is a single 3G iPhone for display purposes.

Now its certainly possible that the box could be a complete fake, I mean if you have a printer and a box you can recreate this yourself – but it is very interesting, as anticipation for the keynote builds.

  1. Def. photoshop, look at the “piece of paper” it has a suspicious unreal shape to it, and if you’re still not convinced, look at the address on the top left of the “paper” by the Apple logo, this box would’ve been internationally shipped, meaning there would be Australia written somewhere on the address line, I highly doubt the new iphones (if at all) would be manufactured in Aussieland, which is the only way that that box would not say Australia on it. Oh, and the box certificate stamp should not be under the paper, it should be over it.

  2. Uhm, I’m no image expert, but to me it looks like a photoshop job. Besides, it makes no sense if it was a 3G iPhone in there. With all the security precautions, why wouldn’t Apple just spend a few bucks on a DHL and had it delivered on the day of the keynote… Why would they risk exposing the new product?? Again, no sense…

  3. Yes, this is suspect. The black stamp on the box suggests that it is upside down. Apple wouldn’t ship a box like that. And where are the customs declaration stickers?
