I also think the iGlove is a great idea. My first concern was how it could end up looking like an old, torn glove instead of an accessory for the latest phone. But then i thought about it and maybe if the holes are small enough that they are not noticeable, it might work just fine, and also improve accuracy when typing. Still, it would be better if it’s some kind of conductive material.

During my time in the Arctic we had gloves that were called trigger finger, which exposed, obviously your trigger finger. That would work for me.
Also, many of the gloves I see people wearing these days have the fingers exposed and just a mitten cap that goes over them. Many of the phone text kids wear them.
Finally, most of the gloves I own have some exposed areas of the fingers worn into them anyway!

I like the idea of the flip case. Been thinking about that protection since I first saw the iPhone, I had something similar back with my Palm3.

We will surely see all and many more of the ideas mentioned, I think the iPhone will open up another cottage industry, like the iPod did, for it’s accessories.

Surely a glove with an electrically conductive material (say a plastic metal compound) coated on the end of one finger would be better? Look a little less like a glove with a hole in it, too!

I am aware that some of these already exist for video iPods…but the iGloves I’m talking about don’t, and the stereo head phones don’t have a headset for accepting calls.

There already is 1 if not 2 companies making “iGloves”. As well as a company that makes a 16 hour (I believe) battery add-on for video iPods, and another company with stereo bluetooth headsets for mp3 music listening. You guys really need to get out more

I am hoping that one of the companies making wearable iPod controllers is able to add some functionality for the iPhone as well. That would be sweet.

I’m guessing the “touch” just have to conduct electricity like skin. So the tips of the iGlove could be just some conductive material. Or the tips should have properties like the skin at the tips of your fingers, so it can still keep your finger tips warm.

I would add to the flip case a transparent flexible rubber-ish thing that acts as a keyboard. Kind of like a membrane keyboard. So when you want to use the touch-screen keyboard, you can slap the transparent keyboard on top and type with tactile feedback. Of course, the side of the keyboard that touches the screen would have to emulate your finger tips. How does that sound?
