30 Days of iPhone – Day 21 “iPhone 1.0.1″

So, Apple released an update to the iPhone. At first, it seemed like the update was just a few security issues and bug fixes, but there are also a few minor new features in here that are worth noting.

For example, there is now a BCC option in the mail app. Also, the Passcode options have been updated to give you more time before having to enter it if you choose. Honestly, I don’t plan on using either of these new features any time soon, but it is nice to see some minor updates already making their way to the device.

After using the update for 24 hours I can say that Safari does seem to handle multiple web pages better than it did previously. I’ve also found that it seems to be able to handle playing audio while performing other task’s better…but it’s still not perfect. Crashing can still happen.

It’s nice to see this security update so soon, but I’m still hoping for a more major release in next few months with a few additional features.

  1. You can get the BBC via email now? Cool!

Seriously, you really might want to think about using a spellcheck program (I know it wouldn’t have caught this, but still). I read your site every day and as much as I enjoy it (I really do!), the number of typos that make it through are kind of embarrassing.

  2. I think we will see a major update with extra apps or at least significant changes come October or just generally Fall, before the European launch. Sony did the same with the PS3, lined up a major firmware release for the same day the europe launch. I think Apple will do the same.

  3. @Hell

You know, I love how everyone suggests that I use a spell check. I really do. The thing is, I HAVE A SPELL CHECK. It’s part of the Google toolbar. I use it all the time. In fact, it just put a little red line under the word toolbar.

It didn’t catch BBC. I’m sorry about that. I think you’ll find that most of the time, if there are spelling errors, they are words that the spell check doesn’t catch.

I’m not embarrassed by anything that I write, or any spelling errors I may make. If it happens, it happens….when it’s brought to my attention, I fix it.

    I’m not perfect.

I never will be. I try to catch everything, but if you look at the amount of crap I write everyday (particularly with my poor spelling skills), and it’s bound to happen.

  4. Hi…

I did not get a BCC upgrade in my update????

    Odd…
