I love that fact that there is only ONE OS X. I manage a bunch of machines and never have to worry about which OS is installed where. All my Macs are Intel so every one is running the latest Snow Leopard—which is FASTER and SMALLER than the previous Leopard OS. I also love TimeMachine the automated backup system—just turn it on and forget it is even there. 3 months ago I added a DroboPro with 16TB of disk and now every computer in the office backs up changes every hour of every day. One hot weekend last summer some fool turned off the AC to save $$$ over a three day weekend. As a result, I lost two drives due to heat failure. My first test of TimeMachine resulted in 100% recovery on machines that I had not every backed up before... very, very nice indeed.

I love the Mac, especially after exploring the Windows world more than I ever have before. However, as much as I would like to say I never had to defrag my hard drive in OS X, I can't say that. It could be me and my computer habits but with software like Drive Genius and others, I suspect it is more necessary than not.

Not being part of the evil empire... :)

Backlit keyboards, auto screen brightness, the Finder, the sidebar, instant sleep and wake up, aliases, the dock, menu bar at the top with windows separate, dashboard, lack of viruses, magsafe connector, multi-touch track pad, iTunes, iPhoto, etc.

Well said!!!

What most people don't realize is the Value of Integration and Cost of Ownership for the End User!

Under both these categories there is nobody beats Apple and Steve Jobs!!!

Good list. I've never had a Windows or DOS computer at home, so I don't have anything to compare to in regards to viruses. I do remember I used to spend some time with OS 7, 8, and 9 defragmenting the hard disk, but with OS X I have never even done that and have had no problems.

I'm thankful for :

- Drag and drop installs and uninstalls
- Not having to reinstall my OS every six months
- Not having to check for new drivers anytime I buy some new hardware
- Sparkle-enabled apps that just update themselves
- Awesome software that works so well, you actually want to pay for it
- Having no idea what the inside of my iMac looks like
