We’re halfway through the first month of 2014 and I’m willing to bet a few people already dropped the New Year’s resolutions. Whether it was to go to the gym every day or eat better, keeping those resolutions is a big deal, which is why I’ve selected the top fifteen apps for the iPhone to keep you going with your resolutions all year long.
Quite a few resolutions include getting healthy, eating better, and working out more. These apps are all about helping with all three of those.
RunKeeper – Free!
Getting out there and putting a few miles under your shoes is a great way to get healthy and burn some calories. RunKeeper is great at not only logging your miles, but showing you the map of where you ran/walked/biked/unicycled, but it also syncs to the web and best of all, RunKeeper has training programs created by professionals to help you run your first 5K up to shaving some time off your best marathon ever.
If you have an iPhone 5S, you can even track all your daily walking without killing your battery.
Zombies, Run! – $3.99
If running just to be healthy isn’t enough motivation, how about running for your life! Zombies, Run! is an app that immerses you into a world taken over by zombies in which you’re a runner. Runners in this world go for supplies and to send messages instead of running around the block. Sprint to escape zombie hordes and use rewards from each run to build up your town.
Zombies, Run! is easily the most fun and immersive way to get into running, and with in-app purchases the missions never get old. More game and less running app, this is a must have for anyone starting to run.
Workout (7 Minute Body Fitness) – $0.99
Researchers have determined the exact workouts and the order of those workouts to give you the most bang for your buck and get you fit in as little time as possible. While you can do them yourself for free, the Workout app for the iPhone times and instructs you while an Arnold sound-alike gets you motivated. Oh, and did I mention it has some pretty awesome pixel art, too?
Buddhify 2 – $1.99
With all the stress after the holidays and the winter blues kicking in, sometimes a little relaxation and meditation is just what you need. buddhify 2 provides mindfulness-based meditation for just about any occasion. From eating, to feeling stressed, to just taking a break from work, you get a range of guided meditations to help calm you and keep you centered.
Lose It! – Free (Premium: $39/year)
Need to drop a few pounds after the holidays and don’t know where to start? Lose It! is a free app that syncs to the web to give you the ability to track all your food as well as exercise. Lose It! even connects to most fitness apps to automatically import your stats. Scan barcodes and input custom recipes to customize the app just how you like.
True Food –Free!
If you’re worried about eating better and avoiding GMO foods, True Food is for you. Go behind the label and learn what foods in your super market are GMO and which ones are not.
Green Kitchen – $4.99
Beautiful photos and an awesome interface give Green Kitchen a look and feel that is truly outstanding. Help yourself eat better by making your own food with organic and vegetarian meals. Get Out of Bad Habits

Have a bad habit like smoking or eating a box of Twinkies in a sitting that you need to quit? The app Quitter can help motivate you to get you there. You just enter what it is you’re quitting and how much that thing costs, and let the app run. It will show you how long since you last did the bad habit and even show you how much money you’ve saved!

Lift – Free!
