Apple just issued the press release for their 3rd Quarter Financial results, and things couldn’t be going any better for Macs. Revenue is up 38% year-over-year, and Mac Sales are at an all time high.
Apple shipped 2,496,000 Macs during the quarter, representing 41% growth from the previous year. That’s absolutely amazing.

When Macbook Pro Laser Etching goes bad…

Posted by: Michael on May 16, 2008 | 14 Comments

I got an email while on vacation from a Twitter friend who sent some sad and disturbing pics of what happened to his Macbook Pro. He refers to his experience as “brutal and embarrassing” and after looking at what was done to his machine I can see why.
Kevin (his name is Kevin), decided to [...]

RFR: My Macbook won’t boot into OS X

Posted by: Michael on May 8, 2008 | 6 Comments

Quick question to all of you who are smarter than me…
I recently used Boot Camp to put Windows on my Mac. Terrible idea. After trying to get Windows to find my Mighty Mouse, and my external monitor for 30 minutes or so, I gave up, booted back into OS X and deleted the Windows partition.
Now, [...]

Amazingly detailed Macbook Pro laser etching

Posted by: Michael on Apr 14, 2008 | No Comments

This has to be one of the most impressive laser etchings I’ve ever seen. It’s incredibly detailed and layered. Apparently the image is from World of Warcraft.
Very, very cool stuff.
You can find out more about the people that did it right here.
Higher-Rez images are available at Flickr.

Why are there so many Macbook problems lately?

Posted by: Michael on Apr 14, 2008 | 10 Comments

It appears as though at least some of the latest Apple Macbooks are suffering from graphical issues according to reports on Apple’s discussion forum. Both the Macbook and the Macbook Pro are said to be suffering from instances of “visual corruption” in which text duplicates, documents fail to scroll, and animations and videos flicker annoyingly. [...]

The Joy of a Macbook Pro and an External Display

Posted by: Michael on Apr 10, 2008 | 15 Comments

The Macbook Pro is working well so far, and along with its delivery yesterday, I also received another box…this one from Dell. Inside was a 24 inch widescreen LCD display. As you can tell, by the horrible picture above (taken with my iPhone) that’s a lot of screen real estate.
I have [...]

The Macbook Pro has returned yet again…

Posted by: Michael on Apr 10, 2008 | 3 Comments

Yesterday afternoon DHL delivered the Macbook Pro for the 4th time. I opened it up and found a list that stated at another 4 things had been replaced in the machine (I didn’t realize that the inside of the Macbook Pro had this many parts that could be replaced). It also said that [...]

What would 150 Apps running at once on a Mac look like? This…maybe…

Posted by: Michael on Apr 7, 2008 | 2 Comments

This is a 2.2GHz MBP with 4GB of Ram running, reportedly, 150 Apps at once. While I’m not convinced there are actually 150 apps running there, and I’m even more not convinced that all 150 were opened at the same time without so much as a slow down, it is an interesting image, none [...]

The Macbook Pro has to go back one more time…

Posted by: Michael on Mar 28, 2008 | 7 Comments

Well, for those of you following the ongoing Macbook Pro saga, it looks like I have one final round of sending off to do. The audio problem still continues to be a problem, but since they have replaced the left I/O board it no longer happens when you plug the USB mic into the [...]
