Apple’s designer Jonathan Ive wins National Design Award
This week Apple designer Jonathan Ive won the 2007 National Design Award for product design. He was selected for his innovative design work over the past 11 years on Apple products, from the iPod, iPod nano, iMacs, the iBook, and upcoming iPhone.
The nominations were solicited from a committee featuring more than 800 leading designers, educators, journalists, cultural figures and corporate leaders from every state in the nation.
“Jonathan Ive is the senior vice president of industrial design at Apple Inc., where since 1996 he has led a product design team widely regarded as one of the industry’s best. Ive’s streamlined design aesthetic, combined with a strong knowledge of the engineering process, has brought design into the public consciousness in an unprecedented way.” reads the official site.
Congratulations go out from everyone at Apple Gazette to Jonathan Ive. In a lot of ways, Steve is the guy that sells them, but Jonathan is the guy that makes us want to buy them.

Tell me, who doesn’t want to be this guy right now? I think someone should send him one those T-shirts from the Fake Steve Jobs site that says “Dude, I invented the friggin iPod. Ever heard if it?”.
