Top iPhone Banking Apps You Don’t Want to Miss

Let’s face it, finding the best banking app for the iPhone is an overwhelming task. There are many different options out there to research and try, and in many cases some of the most popular apps aren’t always the best. Banking tasks themselves can be daunting, so making sure you have the exact right app to help and not make things more confusing is nerve-racking. What if you rely on an app that actually jumbles your banking information?

A banking app isn’t something you want to switch all too often, so it’s important to get it right the first time. Knowing what to look for and trying a few apps that have a good reputation is key to getting your mobile banking situation settled once and for all.

Top iPhone Banking Apps to Download This Year

Below are some of the top iPhone banking apps that have consistently received good reviews and offer the latest options and features consumers need:

  1. Mint (Intuit).

This app has been around for a while and allows you to track, budget, and manage your money. You have to register for an account at mint.com, but it’s simple and everything is completely free. You will also be able to mange your account on a desktop, but this option is primarily used for mobile. The interface is great and easy to use, so if you’re looking track and budget your money this ones for you.

  1. Credit Karma.

This is the first and only app to provide you with free credit scores and free credit monitoring, so it’s a good one to have in the back of your mind. It’s completely free, and you can even see how your score ranks in comparison to others. It’s also a good way to monitor things regarding your credit score because it will alert you if something in your credit report changes such as improved payment history, new public records, and new credit inquiries.

  1. My Loan Calculator (by CalcNexus).

Any loan calculator app will help you calculate payments, review schedules for payments, and most importantly create different scenarios and options for your payments to see what would happen if you were to add that payment.

With this particular app you can calculate fixed-rate simple interest payments, add principal payments to see your loan balance shift, and create a scenario with a few variables and then show you the outcome. For example, if you have a car loan, you might be interested to see what your payment would be if you have a certain loan amount, interest rate, and term. Plug those factors into the app and you’re good to go.

  1. Home Budget with Sync (by Anishu Inc.).

This is a great app to manage your account balances, create a budget, and keep your bills organized. You can set up your credit and debit card accounts and then sync your data so that you can export your information to desktop if you wish. This is also a good app if you want to share information with another iPhone user or use the “family sync” option to help everyone stay within a particular budget.

  1. BBVA Compass.

What I like best about this app is that you can flip through photos of the checks you have deposited. It has great security so you never have to worry about someone stealing your information, and you are able to make credit card payments through this app. It has a great user interface and you don’t have to sign up for any type of online banking before using it.

  1. Barclays Pingit.

This is a UK based app, but you do not need to have a bank account with Barclays to use its features. This app is full of options that most other apps don’t offer—you can check balances, transfer funds, etc. from multiple platforms like your iPad or desktop, you can call your bank directly from the app, and you can send and receive money via by using mobile phone numbers so that you aren’t using your bank information. In my opinion, this is the future of banking apps.

A Few Extra Tips

We did not include apps like Chase, Bank of America, or other major banks on the list because these apps work best if you have an account with that bank. They allow you to look at your accounts and even pay your bills right there on the app.

We talked with Natalie Cooper of Bankingsense.com who explained that having more than one banking app is sometimes a good idea if you’re working with the right ones. She said, “I highly recommend download those major banking apps along with one of the apps discussed above. Major banking apps rarely have the special features that some other third-party apps have, so it’s beneficial to have both.”

    Hello,
My name is Michael Roche I am the CEO/Owner of Flashpoint media LLC maker of the popular Instant Rewards iPhone App. I am writing you today because I came across an article you wrote about “apps that pay you” while you have many great apps in this list ours is not part of it. Our App Instant Rewards was recently featured in seventeen magazine and on several other media outlets. We have over 50,000 users and 4.5/5.0 rating in a side by side comparison of some of our competitors such as: Jingit, Checkpoints, Appjoy, Gigwalk or adfun we beat them in all categories. We Offer users Videos to watch, Surveys to take, Apps to download and recently partnered with Kiip to offer “real Life” rewards to users. We also pay more and offer both paypal and Amazon giftcards as a cashout method, and unlike all of our competitors we are open worldwide not just limited to the USA. In conclusion I believe your readers deserve to be informed about the best apps around and quite frankly one of the best apps (ours) is not included in this list. Don’t take my word checkout the reviews yourself we are better than most if not all rewards apps available today!
